Spotify Celebrates Wizkid’s Iconic Anthem

it’s been 10 years since Wizkid blessed us with the iconic banger “Ojuelegba” from his 2014 album Ayo. Written by Wizkid and produced by one of Naija’s finest Legendury Beatz, Ojuelegba has become much more than just another hit it’s an anthem that resonates deeply with millions of Nigerians, especially the youth.

Phiona Okumu, head of music at Spotify Sub-Saharan Africa, recently revealed that Ojuelegba has now surpassed 55 million streams on the platform and to celebrate this milestone Spotify has released a special anniversary film that celebrates Ojuelegba’s journey and influence over the past decade. From the Lagos airwaves to international playlists, “Ojuelegba” has paved the way for Afrobeats to dominate the world stage.

Fast-forward ten years later, Ojuelegba still inspires a new generation of Naija youths, reminding us all that no matter where we come from, our dreams are valid.

MOBO Awards: Ayra Starr wins Best African Music Act

Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr has once again proven that she’s a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, The Afrobeat queen made history at the 2025 MOBO Awards by becoming the first woman in 16 years to win the Best African Music Act award. she also went ahead to bag the Best International Music Act, solidifying her place as a global music powerhouse.

The prestigious award ceremony, held in Newcastle, saw Ayra Starr beat heavyweights like Asake, Tems, and South Africa’s Tyla for the African Act category,  But perhaps the biggest shocker of the night was her victory in the Best International Act category, where she triumphed over global superstars like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, and Latto.

With this win, Ayra Starr joins the exclusive list of Nigerian artists who have taken home the MOBO Best International Act award, following in the footsteps of Wizkid (2017, 2021) and Burna Boy (2020, 2022).
